Police launch bid to beat Burnley car criminals

MOTORISTS are being offered free number plate screws as part of a drive to reduce crime in Burnley.
The special screws make it more difficult for thieves to steal registration numbers, which thieves then use to commit crime offences such as drive offs from petrol stations.
Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team will be at Chorley Nissan, Westgate on Sunday between 11am and 3pm, to fit the tamper proof number plate screws.
Sgt Jim Astin said: “Tamper proof screws are an extremely useful tool to help deter thieves and I hope that this initiative will help us to reduce this type of crime from occurring.
Any dealerships can contact Sgt Astin on 101.
