Nominations open for Burnley's community sport awards

NOMINATIONS are open for this year’s Burnley Community Sports Awards.

This year’s ceremony is hosted by former Olympian Derek Redmond, an athlete whose achievements include breaking Roger Black’s world record, and will take place on July 4 at the Mechanics Theatre.

Burnley Community Sports Awards were established to recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements of local people and communities to sport, physical activity, and community development, especially in the wake of the Olympics.

They pay tribute to those who show dedication at a range of levels or those who work tirelessly to support individuals or community clubs, for the love of the sport and their community.

Categories for nomination include coach of the year, young volunteer of the year, rising star, and much more.
