Foodbank call by Pendle MP
1:30pm Monday 18th February 2013 in News
PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson will today visit St Philip’s Food Bank, in Leeds Road, Nelson, from 12.15 to 1pm to see how it operates, and the challenges it faces.
The food bank, which opened last June, provides food parcels with essential food for individuals and families for three days in case of emergency.
It also operates a takeaway soup kitchen.
Anyone with any queries about the food bank should call 01282 877640.

I hope he will join me in being proud that there are people willing to run food banks for people who are desperate, and thoroughly ashamed that in this country in 2013 they are needed.

With the amount of benefit money being horsed at these people, anyone that genuinely relies on these places for food must be completely useless.

It is also the hardworking Joe and Joanna Bloggs who can't make ends meet any more for whatever reason. Sudden bereavement, divorce and it's financial flack, unexpected emergency cash out outlay and many other reasons. Also, people on benefits, including the elderly on pensions may need to seek help because of high heating bills and delays in benefit payments.

Please try to stop being so heartless. There are some that deceive but don't use the tarbrush technique on everyone.
