Dog owner from Colne prosecuted over fouling
12:43pm Thursday 14th February 2013 in News
A MAN from Colne has been prosecuted for allowing his dog to foul in public.
Duncan Cameron, 47, of Basil Street, failed to appear at Reedley Magistrates’ Court, but the case was proved in his absence.
A local resident witnessed Cameron allowing his dog to foul on Walton Street, Colne, on August 29.
He reported it to the council who issued Cameron with a fixed penalty notice.
But the offender did not pay and was taken to court as a result. He was fined a total of £120 in court. Coun John David, who represents clean streets in Pendle, said: “First of all, I want to thank the resident who reported this dog-fouling offence to us.
“He was also willing to give evidence in court which has helped us to bring about this prosecution. Cameron now has another fine to pay for his lazy approach to dog ownership.
“Picking up a dog’s waste is part and parcel of being a dog owner. If you’re not prepared to do that, then you really shouldn’t have a dog.”
