Former Colne nursery site to be sold for housing
1:47pm Monday 11th February 2013 in News
LAND that used to be a former day nursery in Colne is set to be sold off for housing use by Pendle Council.
The authority is to put the land around the Haverholt Day Nursery on the open market.
Glenys Barnes, from the council’s property management team Liberata, said: “The land was the site of the county council’s former Haverholt Day Nursery.
“The building was demolished in 2008 and the land is now an unused grassed area with some trees around the perimeter.
“The council’s planning section confirms that the site is included in the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment and is considered to be deliverable within six to 10 years.
“This assessment is based on the current viability of similar sites.
“However, it does not stop the site coming forward sooner should the land be sold and an acceptable scheme approved.”
