AN investigation has been launched after two men broke into a house in Burnley armed with a large stick and a metal chain.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance outside a house, in Willow Street, shortly after 8pm on Monday.

Detectives said two men had broken into the property armed with a large stick and metal chain. They attacked the male and female occupants, causing them cuts and bruises, police said.

Both victims were taken to the Royal blackburn Hospital, but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the inc-ident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Phil Pilkington, of Pennine CID who is leading the investigation, said: “I can confirm we are invest-igating a disturbance between a group of people in Willow Str-eet on Monday evening. I urge anyone who saw the incident, around 8pm, to come forward and help us piece together what has happened.

“We do have two people in custody who are helping police with their inquiries.”

A 43-year-old man, and a 40-year-old man, from Burnley, have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, police said.

Last night they were being quizzed by detectives at Burnley Police Station.

Funny doesn't mention in the report that the occupants are heavy drug user's that discard used needle's and empty methadone bottles with there name's on them in the area around the property they occupy. The area has a lot of children that play out and these two have total disregard for anyone. See report in last week's burnley express Grit Bin.
