Criticism over Barnoldswick's festive switch-on

BARNOLDSWICK Town Council has called for better preparations when it comes to future Christmas light switch-ons.
A report by the general purposes committee has made a series of recommendations as to how this year’s efforts could be improved.
It also criticised a lack of support in putting up the town’s decorations.
The report said: “There had been little or no support in dressing and putting up the trees from the Chamber of Trade, traders or volunteers. Churches hadn’t been asked to help.”
Referring to the light switch-on on November 10, it continued: “More volunteers were required and the use of music should be reviewed.
“The advent hunt could be held earlier and the timing of the event is to be reviewed.”
Health and safety concerns, including more prominent first aid points and the provision of public toilets, were also noted.
