Brierfield teenager stole fuel worth £6,000

A TEENAGER who went on a ‘spree’ stealing petrol and diesel worth around £6,000 from East Lancashire garages, is awaiting sentence.
Burnley magistrates heard how Patrick Heaney, 18, struck at Burnley, Nelson and Rossendale, at Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, Holmefield Garage and Mister C’s Texaco, taking fuel worth about £130 each time.
Heaney, of Halifax Road, Brierfield, admitted 10 thefts, between September and December and asked for 40 offences to be considered.
He was bailed until tomorrow, for a pre-sentence report. He could be committed to the higher court for sentence.
Alex Mann, prosecuting, said the defendant had been on a ‘bit of a spree’ and was not a regular offender.
He added Heaney was putting fuel into containers in the back of a vehicle through an open window or door.
