Barnoldswick historic truck fetches £10,500 at auction

A 60-YEAR-OLD Barnoldswick lorry — immaculately restored after it was rescued from a Midlands scrapyard — sold for £10,500 at an auction.

The 1951 Guy Pantechnicon Otter was sold by the son of the founder of the Barnoldswick-based Silentnight mattress and divan firm.

Before the Bonhams auction in Harrogate, Yorkshire, the lorry had been expected to sell for between £10,000 and £15,000.

It was snapped by an online bidder.
