Pendle Hill '1612' artists makes donation to hospice

Artist Philippe Handford Artist Philippe Handford

PHILIPPE Handford, of Handford Design, the artist responsible for placing the year “1612” on the side of Pendle Hill earlier this year, has donated £150 to Pendleside Hospice. The installation was to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Pendle witches going on trial.

Philippe arranged to have photo postcards of the proposed art installation produced and sold them at various venues – the proceeds of which he has donated to the hospice.

Fundraising manager Christina Cope said “When the numbers 1612 were placed on Pendle Hill it was an image that could be seen from miles away, and caused a great deal of excitement.

“On behalf of Pendleside Hospice, I would like to thank Philippe for the donation and we appreciate his support.”.
