LIBERAL Democrats have unveiled their top team which they say should run the borough's affairs in future.

The former ruling group still wants to manage Pendle Council - despite losing eight seats in the May 1 polls - although speculation is still rife about a Labour-Tory pact taking over.

Coun John David, of Fence, has been put forward as their prospective leader by the party, which has dubbed a potential Lab-Con partnership as an unholy alliance'.

Under their proposals the remaining executive posts would go to Couns David Whipp, David Clegg, Sonia Robinson, Tony Greaves, Allan Buck, Ann Kerrigan and Nadeem Ahmed.

Tory leader Anthony Beckett and Labour leader Mohammed Iqbal have been offered posts, within the executive.

The matter will be resolved at the annual council meeting tonight.

What joy to see the Glib Dems not having their own way in Pendle for once. Their arrogance knows no bounds.

Saj Karim is still going to be the next Euro MEP. This is because he has managed to secure a safe third position in the Tory ranks. And for any one to mention that he relied on the Liberals is a complete waste of time. In fact he made the Lib Dems locally and regionally. You just have to look at the stats this time round. The Lib Dems lost an overall of 7 seats in Pendle. They only took control of the Executive by 1 vote and that is due to the fact that we the Conservatives did not want to enter in to any coalition with either the Liberals or Labour. It is the Tories that are setting the agenda nationally and locally. People talk about Whitefield and Tariq. Let us remind everyone what about Alan Davies defeated by what 526 votes?? Leader of the Council, consecutive councillor for over 28 years?? Talk about that because the truth is hard to bear. We will be having a celebration event this Friday at Silverman Hall.
