Poetry tribute launch night

THE LAUNCH of an anthology in memory of an East Lancashire newspaper editor who died of motor neurone disease in 2005 is taking place on Thursday.
Slip Through the Silence: Facing Adversity with Verse, published by Clitheroe Book Press, is a tribute to Leigh Morrissey, the former editor of the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times.
The 40-page anthology features poems from local writers including former teacher Phil Burton from Burnley, and Sabden businessman Mike O'Neill.
The event will be attended by poets from across the UK, and will be held at the Bengal Tandoori Restaurant in Whalley Road, Clitheroe. Tickets cost £10, including a two-course meal, and are available from Jo Harding at Clitheroe Books, Moor Lane, on 01200 444242.
Organisers hope to raise £1,500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pendleside Hospice in Burnley.
