Various Artists - Disco Connection 2 (Warner Brothers) Album Despite the oxymoronic sub-title 'authentic classic disco 1974-1981' (aw, come on, Disco was/is the most shallow and artificial of pop music genres - and I mean it in a good way!) this, the fruits of the latest sortie into Warners vaults, offers up a number of killer dancefloor tracks.
To be honest, you can't go wrong with the likes of Chic's Everybody Dance, Sister Sledge's He's The Greatest Dancer and Ashford and Simpsom's monumental Bourgie Bourgie. Spotting which tracks found themselves sampled is also a great game to play: Herbiew Mann's campy hi-jack was pinched by J-Lo for Jenny from the Block and the opening to Rose Royce's If It's Love You're After kicked off the Theme from S-Express. My pick? Phreek's Everybody Loves a Good Thing, which is ideal for summer mornings and summer nights alike.
