THE boys are back in town!

Yes the adorable Mark and Jez and their equally adorable double act that is the award-winning Peep Show returned last night with its latest series.

Which of course means any plans for the next six Friday nights are straight out of the window, because from now on, at 9pm on a Friday I have a date with the best comedy sitcom of recent years and I don't want any interruptions.

After the hilariously disastrous wedding of Mark to Sophie, Mark is back in the land of the singletons, reunited with Jeremy, his equal misfit companion whom it seems he is trapped with in a mutually destructive friendship that although is heading nowhere fast, forms a brilliant ride along the way.

This fantastically scripted comedy, now in its fifth series is filled with the kind of quotable funny lines that truly belong on the front of t-shirts.

They have the kind of one-liners that make you laugh out loud; for the first time as you watch it, and then again several more times as you recall the line, a few hours later, and then still breaks a smile when you bring it to mind, days and even weeks later.

There are not many shows that get it so consistently right that they can actually put you in a good mood when you revisit them over and over. I just love it!

And, thank goodness, there's finally a genuinely funny comedy series on a Friday night.
