THIS wonderfully uplifting album from American artist Jeff Beam sounds exactly like sunshine breaking through the clouds.

What immediately strikes you about Beam, who also plays in Portland group The Milkman's Union, is the way he arranges his songs.

Take, for example, Whispering Poison In His Ear. Just when you think it couldn’t get any better, it glides elegantly into a beautiful middle eight break with Nick McCabe-esque sonics.

Elsewhere on this nine-track LP, Hospital Patience has a nice Elliott Smith vibe to it while Now sounds like a collaboration between Beck and John Lennon.

With an organic sound to allow his delicately crafted songs the space to breathe, Jeff Beam is surely heading for big things.
