BBC2's Would I Lie to You? is fast becoming one of the best shows on the box.

OK, it's the latest in a long line of copycat panel shows, but it's definitely one of the most original, and one of the funniest I reckon.

The verbal sparring of the brilliant team captains Lee Mack and David Mitchell is good enough as it is – but when you add to that the opportunity to learn about famous people's weird and wonderful oddities it's must-see TV.

Last night guests Michael Aspel, Davina McCall, Dara O'Briain and Jason Manford joined the team captains.

Who would've thought Michael Aspel shadow boxes in the mirror to gear himself up for presenting Antiques Roadshow? And that his driver once had a small part as a heavy in Minder?

But they must have thought we were stupid to even consider believing Davina walked down the aisle to the Big Brother theme tune.

And as for the possibility of Dara O'Briain having a gardener recommended to him by Andrew Lloyd Webber...?

How do they come up with these things?

The nicest thing about this show is that it's all about trying to out-do the other team and working out if they're lying.

As a result it seems more friendly than the other panel shows. Even host Angus Deaton is less cutting than in his Have I Got News For You? days.
